Day 17: Maisha marefu=cheers!
What a 180 from our previous weeks on this lovely continent. We knew
that RnR would be a perfect way to conclude this journey, and so far so
good! Hakuna Matata! Our resort (Beach and Reef Resort) has beautiful
grounds, amenities, pool, friendly staff, and of course backs the
beautiful Indian Ocean which always has a variety of blue hues. We began
our 2nd day here very early to swim
with dolphins! We were taken out in a boat and jumped off with snorkels
and flippers and swam along with them. My favourite part was hearing
them communicate with each other underwater. Next a big breakfast
(finally!), swimming, and beach soccer! The game was intense and fun!
The goal posts were little tree sticks. An employee on my team called me
'striker' as I managed to get 4 goals and was full of sand! Awesome!
Milkshakes for lunch, reading on water air mattresses, and an afternoon
massage ended the day nicely. We met with our two new American friends
in town for dinner and heard a lot about Emily's 2 year Peace Corps
stint in Mozambique, fascinating! We returned to our resort to watch the
Maasai tribe do their jumping dance and snapped a pic together. A beer
and bed. Tough life. Lala Salama (good night!)
