Seoraksan National Park and Everland

On my last week off of the summer, I decided to see some things around Korea that I have not so far. Marcia and I went to Everland, which is like the Korean Disneyland/Wonderland. Really pretty and some fun rides too.

Rollarcoaster numero uno.

Safari Ride in a bus...

Cutest bear ever. He waved to us, walked on his back feet, stuck his tongue out and waited to bed fed by the bus driver. Check out the video at the bottom!

Next...Mallory and I went to Seoraksan National Park this past weekend. We took a bus to Sokcho, which is a city that is on the Eastern Sea Board and North, by the DMZ (North Korea). It's a city on the beach, so it's so pretty! It takes 3.5 hours to get there from Seoul. They had fireworks at night on the beach.

Some Korean BBQ!

We spent an ENTIRE day hiking up Seorak Mountain. It's one of the most beautiful mountains in South Korea, many people come here, especially in the fall to see the autumn colours. This is the big buddha at the bottom of the mountain.

Mallory and I started out at 8:30am at the bottom...

Some really pretty rock formations along the way.

SOO many chippies! I fed this guy some of my granola bar!

So. I felt like this was one of my feats of strength. The hike was initially in the rain, ponchos and all. It was SOO foggy/cloudy most of the way up. Mal made it most of the way up, but had to stop b/c of her knee injury from before. I kept going because I just had to. I can honestly say it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. It was steep and just long. It was a 9 hour hike and 18 KM and I was SOO proud at this moment, I made it ABOVE the clouds!!!

My head was ... in the clouds no doubt~~

The post days of the hike were pretty sore...but it was sooo worth it!
And i'd do it all over again tomorrow.
Well, maybe not tomorrow...

Press play! Bear being silly at Everland
